Registration Now Open for Branch Out Summer Art Camp

We are thrilled to announce that registration for Branch Out Summer Art Camp is now open! This year, we’re gearing up for an incredible journey into the world of creativity with two captivating themes: Calcasieu Critter and Re-useum.

Important Dates to Remember:

  • March 8-21: Registration opens exclusively for Museum Members.
  • March 22 onwards: Open registration begins for all.

What to Expect:

Branch Out is a dynamic summer art camp tailored for children who have completed grades K-8. Our immersive classes will explore a variety of artistic techniques, including drawing, painting, ceramics, shape & form, papercraft, and color theory. Led by certified teachers from the Calcasieu Parish School Board, each session promises a high-quality art education that fosters creativity and skill development.

Themes for 2024:

  • Calcasieu Critter: Dive into the fascinating world of our local animals as we learn to appreciate and depict the beauty of the creatures around us.
    • Dates: June 3-7, June 10-14, and June 17-21.
  • Re-useum: Embark on an eco-conscious adventure where we explore the art of recycling and reimagine everyday materials into stunning works of art.
    • Dates: June 24-28, July 8-12, and July 15-19.

Class Times:
Morning: 9 – 11:30 am (Half Day)
Afternoon: 12:30 – 3 pm (Half Day)
Both Morning and Afternoon: 9 – 3 pm (Full Day)

Choosing Your Week: You may select one from each theme. Please note that the curriculum within each theme remains the same throughout the designated dates. For instance, if you choose Calcasieu Critters, the information and activities will be consistent whether you attend June 3-7, June 10-14, or June 17-21.

Theme 1: Calcasieu Critters

Explore the wonders of our local wildlife during Calcasieu Critter sessions, scheduled for June 3-7, June 10-14, and June 17-21. Dive into the fascinating world of the beautiful animals that surround us, from the majestic birds to the elusive marsh creatures. Get ready to unleash your creativity as we embark on exciting projects, including a watercolor painting of the Raising Canes dog.

Embark on an eco-conscious adventure during Re-useum sessions, scheduled for June 24-28, July 8-12, and July 15-19. Explore the art of recycling and reimagine everyday materials into stunning works of art. Get ready to unleash your creativity with projects like bead paintings and crafting a clay Raising Cane’s dog sculpture, transforming waste into wonder.
