As the mornings grow softer and the season begins to turn, we invite you to slow down and give back to yourself. Join us for Yoga Under the Oak with Maegan Gonzales on our October dates: October 3rd and October 24th.
Bring your mat, blanket, or towel and settle into a gentle morning of mindful breathing, movement, and relaxation. Whether you have practiced yoga for years or are simply looking for a peaceful place to begin your morning, you are welcome beneath the Sallier Oak.
We are especially grateful to Maegan for the beautiful atmosphere of healing and peace she has created beneath these old branches for nearly eight years. Her practice has become a special part of our community.
“When we gather under the oak, we’re also gathering with community members — people you may not have met before except that you’re all showing up to practice doing the same thing: acknowledging your breath, moving around a bit, and really just being. I wholeheartedly believe in the benefit a yoga practice offers to an individual’s and a community’s well-being. When I’m sharing yoga, it doesn’t feel so much like giving myself or my time away as it feels like an exchange.” – Maegan

About our instructor: Maegan Gonzales
Maegan Gonzales is an interdisciplinary southern artist, writer, certified yoga instructor, and educator living in southwest Louisiana. Her poem “Portrait of Complicity” won the 2025 Editor’s Prize from Sundog Lit. Her writing is forthcoming in SWWIM Every Day and has appeared in Bear Review, Sprung Formal, and more. She teaches at McNeese State University, has performed locally with Lake Charles Little Theatre, and offers Yoga Under the Oak twice a month at Imperial Calcasieu Museum.
