Walking Tours
The Imperial Calcasieu Museum invites you to experience our Historic Walking Tours, available all year long. These docent-led tours bring the past to life as you walk through the streets of Downtown Lake Charles, uncovering the city’s rich heritage, unforgettable characters, and architectural gems.
In addition to our core tours, we also host specialty seasonal tours announced periodically via our website and social media. Stay tuned for updates!
OVERVIEW
Step back in time as you stroll along the historic streets where Lake Charles began. Led by knowledgeable museum docents, the tour weaves together powerful stories of:
- The city’s early pioneers and visionaries
- The devastation and aftermath of the Great Fire of 1910
- How Lake Charles rebuilt with grit and determination

Discounts require valid identification at check-in.
Admission to the Imperial Calcasieu Museum is included on the day of your booked walking tour. Just show your tour confirmation at the front desk for complimentary access.

GROUP TOURS & CUSTOM SCHEDULING
We welcome group tours and are happy to accommodate schools, clubs, corporate teams, and other organizations seeking a customized experience. If you’re interested in arranging a private group tour, please reach out to our team directly to coordinate scheduling and logistics.
Not seeing a date available for the timeframe you had in mind? If you are not part of a group but wish to schedule a tour outside of the listed dates, we recommend contacting the Imperial Calcasieu Museum at least one month in advance. Our team will do their best to accommodate your request and help you experience Lake Charles’ history on your schedule.

TOUR INFORMATION
- Start Location: Front steps of Historic City Hall, 1001 Ryan Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601
- Tour Length: 1-1.5 hours
- Recommended Age: 4 and up
- Group Size: Limited to 25 participants per tour
- What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, water, weather-appropriate gear, and your love of history!
Cancellation & Refund Policy
In the event we must cancel due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we offer the following options:
- A full refund issued in the form of a gift card for use on a future tour, OR
- A complimentary docent-led tour of the Imperial Calcasieu Museum, as an alternative experience.
We understand that plans can change, and we’re happy to work with you when they do. If you need to cancel your walking tour, please call us directly as soon as possible so we can assist you.
