Celebrate and learn about the Black History of Mardi Gras at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum. Mardi Gras would not be as rich without the influence of our black and brown communities. Experience intricate costumes, memorabilia and photographs, and histories of our Louisiana Krewes. This elaborate display is on loan from numerous Krewe collections and the Imperial Calcasieu Mardi Gras Museum.
Our Opening Reception for this exciting exhibit will be held on January 20th from 6-8 pm. Here you’ll be able to sample an array of SWLA’s local favorite King Cakes! You’ll also get another chance to visit Eddie Mormon’s Flora and Fauna of Louisiana art exhibit. This event is free and open to the public. Invite your friends and families and party the evening with us!
