The Imperial Calcasieu Museum will be closed from December 22-26th and December 30th to January 1st. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.
The Imperial Calcasieu Museum is excited to welcome Maaliyah Papillion, Kat Bertrand, and Dominique Espree as the newest resident artists! From April to December 2025, they will develop new work, engage with the community, and enrich the cultural landscape of Southwest Louisiana.
Maaliyah Papillion is a member of the Atakapa-Ishak Nation and blends art and ecological advocacy, using plants as storytellers to highlight the deep connection between people and the land.
Kat Bertrand explores memory, identity, and relationships through bold portraiture and intricate crosshatching, reflecting on how we imprint upon one another.
Dominique Espree layers textures, colors, and surrealism to transform personal experiences into narratives of resilience, trauma, and healing.
